Bollywood Love Story: A Screenplay of an Indian Romance

0

Screenplay of an Indian Love Story takes place in India, where the hero and heroine have fallen in love, but don’t have the means to marry each other. The lover begs their parents to let them marry, but their parents refuse to give their blessing because they are from different castes. Even though there are insurmountable obstacles keeping them apart, they promise to meet again someday and be together as husband and wife. Unfortunately, the hero ends up marrying someone else before he reunites with his true love, but after many years of turmoil and hardship, they find each other again and live happily ever after!

There are no love stories in India

Most Western audiences are usually surprised to learn that most love stories in India are between two people who already know each other. This was a shock to me, as I had been expecting to see the stereotypical teenage love story of two high schoolers that meet, they don't like each other at first but over time they fall in love. The meeting is usually orchestrated by their parents and the couple is forced into marriage before really getting a chance to figure out if they even like each other.

From the marriage, there’s a story

Dipti's friends are surprised that she has agreed to marry a man who is her father's age, but they're also excited. Everyone wants to help make the wedding a special day that will mark the start of a new life for her. But as Dipti and Priya prepare to meet him, they're both already filled with dread at the prospect of meeting such an important figure in their lives for the first time. They wonder what it would be like if he didn't want them. Would he ever want them?

She will be working

Although she is a big fan of Bollywood movies, she has never had the chance to watch one in the theater. For now, she will settle for reading the screenplay, but her goal is to see a movie before leaving India. She does not want to leave without seeing what it is like to be part of a group that cheers on the hero and villain as they battle against each other. She wanted to find out why there are so many similarities between Bollywood and Hollywood films.

Her curiosity will have to wait because she has been accepted into a journalism program at USC, which means that she needs to get ready for orientation soon.

She also has a list of people who are waiting for her reply back home in America about how their lives are going here in India.

She will be trapped in an arranged marriage

Her father arranges her marriage to a man she has never met before. With one day left until the ceremony, she gets the courage to run away with her sister and meet him for dinner. She soon realizes he is not the kind, gentle person she imagined him to be. He is dark and sad, very upset about how his life is turning out. In contrast, she is optimistic about the future. They can’t seem to find anything in common. But as they talk, they start seeing each other in a different light—he sees her beauty, and she sees that there’s more to him than meets the eye. In time they become friends and eventually fall in love. The movie ends with them holding hands on their wedding day as friends and lovers who have found happiness together.

She’ll have kids with this man she hates

They get married to unite their families in the early 2000s. The marriage is far from being perfect, but it becomes increasingly difficult for her to leave him as she knows it would tear her family apart. She’ll stay with him for another four years and three kids before eventually divorcing him. One day after getting divorced, she'll read a blog post about screenplays of Indian love stories written by someone else and decide to keep writing about her own love story. She starts publishing these stories every Friday under the title Bollywood Love Stories: A Screenplay of an Indian Romance

One day she's contacted by a TV producer who wants to make this into a series on primetime TV

The family lives on the edge of town

My parents have been married for twenty years and live on the edge of town in a small house. They are lucky to have each other because they are all that they have. When I was young, I would always run around the house playing with my toys. As I got older, life became more difficult. My mother never stopped working and my father found it hard to find work since he did not speak English very well. We lived paycheck to paycheck but we were happy together. Then one day, my father came home from work and told us we had to move. He said that the factory where he worked had closed down and there were no jobs left. We were heartbroken but we knew what had to be done.

She drives through town at dusk, but doesn’t know why

Why is she driving so aimlessly? This isn't how she was raised. Her mother, who gave her strict instructions on all aspects of life and relationships, never allowed this kind of freedom as a child. But now that she's gone, Kajal can do whatever she wants. And tonight, it feels like the right thing to do is to drive around in circles until the need for answers becomes too much. The sunset colors everything gold and pink and red, but she doesn’t know what she’s looking for. She starts to think maybe there are no answers at all—and that maybe it’s time to stop looking.

She reaches her destination when headlights appear in front of her and a car pulls over by the side of the road. It seems the driver has been following her since she left town because he gets out from his car before hers even stops moving.

At some point he falls off a cliff, but survives miraculously. How? By landing in a pool at the bottom. (Swim movie.)

The next day, Monsoon wakes up in a hospital. His body feels broken and bruised. There's no way he can go to work today. So he stays at the hospital. And the first person he thinks about is the mysterious girl who fell from heaven into his arms. He wonders if she'll come visit him again. When she does, he'll tell her that it was worth it for one night with her. That one night was enough to last him for life, but not enough for eternity.
