Read on to learn more about Loren Schauer's accident and what happened after the car crash that left her permanently disabled.

Walk with a limp

This is the story of Loren Schauer and his accident. He was on his way to work when he crossed the street and a speeding car smashed into him, sending him to the hospital with a broken leg, shattered wrist, and mangled arm. The video that went viral shows Loren lying in the street while people stop to take photos and videos of him. You might think that this is just a story about a bad accident but it's not. It is an account of how we all can be so quick to judge someone without knowing their whole story. If you are wondering what really happened here then this is what transpired

Talk in your sleep

Loren Schauers accident was caused by a fall that happened while she was sleepwalking. She fell down the stairs and broke her neck which led to quadriplegia. This tragic event has led Loren to speak out about the dangers of sleepwalking and how it can lead to accidental injuries. Loren hopes to educate people on how dangerous sleepwalking is so they know what signs to look for if they or someone they know may be at risk. Loren also hopes that this tragedy will be used as an example in schools as a lesson on what not to do, in order to prevent any other accidents from happening due to people who are unaware of the risks involved with this sleeping disorder.

Crawl in your sleep

In the early hours of December 6th, 2014, Loren Schauer was struck by a truck while riding his bike. He was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with an extensive list of injuries including a broken femur, fractured pelvis, several broken ribs and a severely lacerated liver. It's still unclear what exactly happened that night but we can all agree that it was incredibly unfortunate. Luckily for Loren and his family, he has been recovering well and is expected to be back on his feet soon!

Throw tantrums in your sleep

Loren Schauer is one of the most successful women in the world. She started her first company when she was just nine years old and built it up to be worth $200 million dollars by the time she was twelve. But what you may not have known about Loren is that she had an accident when she was six years old that left her paralyzed from the waist down for life. It happened on a beautiful summer day while playing with friends outside in the front yard. Loren's wheelchair wasn't nearby, so they tried picking her up off the ground but unfortunately she lost consciousness before they could move her far enough away from the tree root that she hit her head on. The children called for help, but Loren never regained consciousness again. Her spinal cord was damaged so badly that even if she did regain consciousness, there would be no hope for a full recovery.

Sleepwalk out of bed at night

She was asleep and walk out of her bed in the middle of the night. Being a sleepwalker she walked into the bathroom and leaned on the sink to get some water. There, she slipped and fell, hit her head on the marble countertop, and bled profusely before passing out. When she woke up in her bed hours later with blood all over her sheets, Loren had no recollection of what happened or how she got home. Worried about how this would affect her husband and child, Loren went to the hospital immediately for medical attention. Doctors found that she had sustained a concussion from hitting her head on the marble, but it wasn't anything serious enough for them to admit her for observation.

After everything turned out okay, Loren shared her story with others so that they could understand why sometimes people act strange after getting hurt.

Throw objects from your window

I love the feeling of throwing objects from my window, it makes me feel like I'm in a movie. I'm not sure how long I've been doing this; probably about four years now. It started when my best friend and her sister had a fight and she wanted to throw something out of her window to get back at her sister. That was the first time I ever threw anything out of my window, and it made me feel powerful. So now every time we have a fight or just want to have some fun, we start throwing things from our windows--it's become an inside joke for us. But one day, I didn't know that there was someone walking below me when I picked up a toy phone and threw it out of my window.

You can’t really be blamed for the things you do in your sleep, so no need to apologize!

I’m not sure what the exact situation was, but I know from experience that it can be difficult to wake up from a nightmare. I once had a dream that my cat had died and when I woke up in the morning, she was laying on the floor dead. It took me a good half hour to get her back into bed and close my eyes again because I was so shaken by the thought of her being gone for real. Loren must have been going through something similar when he wrecked his car.

Try sleeping with your feet elevated on some pillows (like a kid). This might encourage you to fall asleep faster. Experiment with different heights and see what works best.

I am not sure if you are aware, but Loren Schauer had an accident and he has been in hospital for the last few weeks. This is a really sad event, and we hope that he recovers soon.
